Mental Health Housing provides safe and stable homes dedicated to a special population. The individuals and families we serve are living with chronic and disabling mental illness; they all must also qualify as low-income. Our homes are tailored to support the individual needs of the people we serve.
The living spaces we offer are:
- Individual bedrooms in a shared home
- One- and two-bedroom units in apartment/condos
- Larger units to accommodate families with children

Building support services
We believe everyone deserves a safe an affordable place to live. Mental Health Housing supports its tenants so they can live as independently as possible.
- Sliding scale-based rent: We offer affordable housing through an income-based sliding scale, only charging tenants 30% of their fixed income. Income for most people on disability is less than $800 per month, as persistent mental illness usually interferes with or severely limits a person’s ability to work.
- Allowance for utilities: We build in a utility allowance when tenant rents are calculated.
- Dedicated mental health services: Tenants are enrolled with Sound Health to receive necessary & life-saving mental health treatment and case management.
- Build rental history: We provide a path to success for tenants renting in the private housing market.
- Stable and permanent housing: We maintain safe and affordable long-term housing. Often people with mental illness require periodic hospitalization during the acute phases of their illness. In our housing, tenants retain their right to return home in spite of these hospitalizations. Providing stable, well-maintained housing reduces the trauma of losing one’s home during hospitalizations and allows a speedy return to the community.
